FashionPrep Design Academy - For Grades 6-8
Spring Break
One day academy with model drawing. Pilot Your Imagination & Navigate the World of Fashion From One of The Best Young Designers of NYC. Spend a day exploring and conquering the world of fashion design the processes that drive it:
• Fashion, Style, History. Becoming your own Designer. Role models: words of fashion wisdom from inonic fashion designers.
• Build drawing and conceptual skills through live model drawing and design sketching
• Discuss fashion history, fashion designers, the emergence of trends and the contemporary youth culture.
• Explore the world of textiles and fabric characteristics.
• Learn what does a fashion designer do every day
• Start a professional portfolio of your Dream Collection! From inspiration and research, to processes and implementation.
The academy doesn’t not include exercises in garment construction- draping, pattern making and sewing.
This program will be held at NYIUC in Tuxedo, NY.

World Language Academy - Grades 1-6 - Summer 2012
World Language Academy - Grades 1-6 - Our summer immersion program exposes participants to a world language through exciting, interactive and fun activities. The program will include indoor and outdoor activities in our modern and air-conditioned facility located in a park-like setting in Tuxedo, New York. Students will be immersed in all aspects of language learning: Thematic units will be introduced and presented through authentic cultural material: song, games, crafts, group activities and the integration of technology. Participants will also engage in simple mindful breathing, sensing and thinking techniques in addition, participants will receive a healthy snack each day. $10 discount for registration by June 1. $25 late fee for registration within one week of program start date. Languages available are Arabic; French; Italian; Korean; Mandarin Chinese; and Spanish.

Summer 2012 Chess Academy - Grades 1-6
RTC Institute is pleased to partner with Chess Wizards, a premier chess education company, to offer a 5 day chess academy on RTC Institute's beautiful air-conditioned facility at New York International University Center in Tuxedo, NY. The program will include original, fun, and high energy Chess Wizards lessons, chess puzzles and group variant games, such as Revolving Chess. During breaks, participants will have the opportunity for physical activities and sport games. Summer Chess Academy meets 5 hours per day for 5 days.

Engineering FUNdamentals with LEGO®!, grade 3-4
Power up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and over 100,000 pieces of LEGO®! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as arch bridges, skyscrapers, motorized cars, and the Battletrack! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level. Chess Academy - Grades 1-4
After-School Chess Academy offers Chess Wizards patented program with classes specifically designed for all levels of chess ability. Classes and lessons are based on original, fun, and high energy Chess Wizards curriculum. Chess Wizards makes chess fun for all, regardless of a child’s ability.

FLES (After-school Foreign Language)
Our six-week foreign language program will be presented by North Rockland World Language teachers in a meaningful context through interactive, fun, and interesting activities. The curriculum is communications-based and will engage the student in active lessons through song, games, rhymes, crafts, group activities, and authentic materials from foreign countries. NYS Learning Standard: LOTE.

SAT Preparation
Review in math, critical reading, and writing strategies, plus test-taking tips for the SAT exams. You must register in advance. Course may be cancelled if less than 10 participants. No refunds will be issued after start date of class. NYS Learning Standard: ELA, MST.

The PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. This course provides math, verbal, and writing preparation, plus strategies, scoring, timing, and 2 practice tests. You must register in advance. Course may be cancelled if less than 10 participants. No refunds will be issued after start date of class. NYS Learning Standard: ELA/MST.
