Workshop - Child Abuse and Maltreatment
This state-mandated class will present an overview of the current statistics around issues of child abuse, plus strategies for identifying the physical and behavioral signs of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse; guidelines for interviewing and supporting children; and information on how to report suspected abuse as a mandated reporter. Case studies will be utilized to help bring this troubling reality and complex law into practical perspective. Each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion after the class. NYS Learning Standard: ALL.

Workshop - School Violence Prevention and Intervention
This workshop includes study in the warning signs, within a developmental and social context, that relate to violence and other troubling behavior in students. Participants will discuss regulations and policies relating to a safe, nonviolent school climate. Effective classroom management techniques and other academic supports that promote a nonviolent school climate and enhance learning will be explored. Integration of social and problem-solving skill development for students within the regular curriculum will be identified. Intervention techniques designed to address a school violence situation will be addressed. Participation in an effective school/community referral process for students exhibiting violent behavior will be brainstormed. NYS Learning Standard: ALL.

Prep Course for CST (Content Specialty Test) – Math
Three 2 hour classes to review topics included in, but not exclusive to, the NYS certification test (CST Math Content). A selected topic outline will include appropriate problems and solutions for Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. NYS Learning Standard: MST.
